Our decision for the second base was pretty easy after we visited Marina del Sur in Las Galletas. This small and traditional fishing village offers a perfect starting point to discovering the westerly islands of the Canary Islands. The Marina offers excellent culinary options and attracts tourists especially for the wide range of watersport activities.
A fishing village for as far back as Tenerife's history goes, Las Galletas is fiercely proud of its heritage and determined to retain it which is why you'll see fishing boats bobbing in the bay, a daily fish market on the promenade and not a hotel in sight. This is the perfect location to start your sailing adventure.
Located on almost the westerly point of Tenerife, the small resort of Los Gigantes has one of the most stunning backdrops of any town on Tenerife, the ancient and dramatic mountain range which rises from the sea beside the resort and after which it’s named – ‘The Giants’. The marina is a perfect stop off before sailing the 30nm to La Gomera.
“We were kindly suprised by the low costs for harbours and living. It was not comparable to the often high prices at the hot spots of the Mediterranean Sea. The crew was very kind - we felt very comfortable right away. Lava Charter - anytime again!"
